Lunch with Laura Martino

On Tuesday, April 5th students from the Public International Law and
Policy Program were privileged to join WCL and PILPP alumnae Laura Martino for a career building lunch at the offices of Neville Peterson LLP. Ms. Martino is an Associate at Neville Peterson concentrating on international trade and litigation.

Ms. Martino discussed her position at Neville Peterson and outlined the history and practice areas of the firm. In addition, she talked to students about career prospects in international law in general and provided lessons from her own career path. The students in attendance participated in a lively discussion and were very grateful for the guidance and expertise provided by Ms. Martino.

Laura Martino is an associate attorney in Neville Peterson's Washington, D.C. office. Her practice includes Customs regulation, litigation, trade policy, and trade remedies.

Laura Martino received her Juris Doctorate degree in 2003 from American University's Washington College of Law, where she served as Articles Editor on the Journal of Gender, Social Policy and the Law, as well as Teaching Assistant and Dean's Fellow for the Public International Law and Policy Group. In 2001, she studied International Trade and Investment Law at the University de Chile in Santiago. Ms. Martino also interned at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), where she worked on WTO Ministerial, FTAA and bilateral trade issues. Ms. Martino successfully represented clients in immigration proceedings and other international matters at the American University International Human Rights Law Clinic.

Ms. Martino worked on corporate governance issues as a Consultant for the American Corporate Counsel Association (ACCA), where she published "Sarbanes-Oxley Act & the New Attorney Standards," ACCA InfoPAK 2004).

Ms. Martino is admitted to practice law by the New York bar and before the United States Court of International Trade. She is a member of the American Bar Association, International Section and a Member of the Advisory Council of the Public International Law and Policy Group.

Ms. Martino is fluent in Italian and is a dual citizen of the United States and the European Union.
