PILPG Update
Iraq Media Announcement
October 22, 2005
The Public International Law & Policy Group (PILPG) has been in the news recently discussing the trial of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and the new Iraq Constitution.
Managing Director Michael Scharf has advised the Iraqi Special Tribunal as it has put into place procedures for trying Hussein. PILPG has also developed a Saddam Hussein Trial Blog. The blog is frequently updated and has nearly 9800 hits since its inception on September 23. The blog was created in coordination with the Cox International Law Center of the Case School of Law and can be found at http://www.law.case.edu/saddamtrial/
In addition, PILPG has continued to contribute to the discussions on the new Iraq Constitution. In July, a delegation of PILPG experts traveled to Baghdad, where they advised the Constitution Drafting Committee and other Iraq leaders on the language for the Constitution. This endeavor was undertaken in cooperation with the American University Center for Global Peace. More information can be found here: http://www.pilpg.org/areas/peacebuilding/simulations/iraq/
Based on these experiences, PILPG members have recently appeared on a number of media outlets including NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, NBC’s "Today Show," CNN International, BBC World News, Fox News, and Al Jazeera.
