Program Description

The Public International Law & Policy Group is providing pro bono legal assistance to the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh relating to OSCE sponsored Minsk Peace process.

Key West Negotiations.  To promote a resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, PILPG provided on-site legal assistance during the Key West negotiations.  PILPG regularly provides legal assistance with matters that arise during the OSCE sponsored Minsk Peace process, and PILPG members travel frequently to the region.

Election Monitoring.  To facilitate the democratic transformation in Nagorno-Karabakh, PILPG has deployed a six person election monitoring team to monitor three Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Post-Conflict Constitution.  PILPG assisted with a review of the new constitution for Nagorno-Karabakh.  Core issues included the matters relating to a democratic transformation; the protection of human rights; matters of citizenship and political participation of refugees; and the creation of an independent judiciary.
